The Yards
In addition to the five classrooms listed above, our facility has two wonderful yards (two of them!) for play and exploration. The front yard area includes an absolutely enormous sand pit with overhead awning, plus plenty of areas for table play. The sandbox serves as a huge mud kitchen with water available to “cook” and create, and tree stumps for balance and imaginative play.. The back yard has our children’s garden, featuring 11 new young trees (oak, willow, and ginkgo), plus our long-standing liquid amber now surrounded by a tree deck. The garden also features two foot bridges over a dry stream, a weeping rock, working water pump, balance beam, fairy circle, labyrinth, very cute animal statues, and picnic tables. We cannot overestimate the benefits of such an outdoor space for the kids! Just beyond the garden is a gazebo and large “grass” area for running, group games, loose part play, outdoor classroom activities and reading. There is a magnetic wall, a Lego wall, and basketball hoops. In the summer, we make good use of water tables to keep cool.
Security
The preschool is secured during school hours, with entry and exit only available by key fob activation. Key fobs are required to enter the main gate from the parking lot, and to enter and exit the sandbox gate.
